Exercises

Exercising for me is hard.  Believe me there are a dozen or more excuses I can come up with to get out of it.  But I know that it is necessary and when I’m done I feel so much better.  My posture is better, I feel more toned, flexible, stronger, and actually have more energy.  So it’s hard but necessary and I’ve come to make it part of my daily routine.  My goal is to do something, even if it’s small each day.

I’ve put together some of my favorite exercises below.  I try to alternate my routine so not to get bored and also not to over stress certain body parts.  I also have put together a small home gym consisting of TRX, treadmill, free weights, and yoga mat.  I belong to a gym and like to mix up my routine with the variety of classes offered as well as work out on my own.  But, I have to say, some of the most rewarding exercise is when I get to spend time with my kids playing hockey, soccer, riding bikes, swimming, golfing, and the list goes on and on.  My kids are very active and that’s great because it helps keep me active and that counts towards my daily goal.  One of the best parts is that it doesn’t feel like exercise, it’s just spending quality family time; the absolute best!

Ok so one of my  favorite exercises is TRX.  I got hooked on this at my gym and then my loving family bought me one for my birthday.  It is my go to exercise right now.  The below table is perfect for creating your own routine and you can click on each image for a “how to” video.  TRX makes me feel strong and toned and I can get a great total body workout in a short amount of time by taking little to no breaks in between sets which also gets my cardio in.  Major bonus!  I like to pick one or two exercises from each of the body groups on the chart and do anywhere from 12-20 reps for 3 sets.

Below you will also find other tried and true routines.  Try one of the already created routines or get creative and put your own together by using the chart or selecting exercises from  any of the links below.  Join me in trying to do something, even if it’s small, each day.  Best of luck!
